Lou Ellen Gates - 3rd Grade |
I have been teaching here at Jim Ned for 12 years, six years in third grade, five years prior in kindergarten, and one year assisting in P.E. I have been married 25 years to my husband, Tom, who is in the building field, and I have 2 children, both of who have attended Jim Ned all their years. My son, Ben, is presently in the Air Force, and my daughter, Leslie is a freshmen engineering major at Texas A&M University. I have one very energetic three year-old grandson, Carson, who keeps me young! I am actively involved at my church, Tuscola Methodist, as the children’s music leader, and enjoy music, reading, plants, and outdoor activities.
After my graduation from Texas A&M, I worked in the business and retailed fields for 15 years but made a career change to teaching where I could try to instill my excitement and love of learning to my students. I presently team teach with my 3rd grade teaching partner, Mrs. Warren, teaching all the third grade reading classes as well as self-contained classes in math, science, social studies, and art. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and hope to pass on to each student the love of learning.
