Hi there! My name is Laura Lavallee, and I am the new school counselor at Buffalo Gap Elementary School. I am really looking forward to working with the wonderful teachers, students, and parents in the Jim Ned school district! This year I will be going into each classroom once a week to teach a school-wide character education program titled “Character First!”. To correspond with the nine-month school calendar, “Character First!” has divided its education curriculum into nine character qualities. This year we will be focusing on the following qualities:

Attentiveness
Gratefulness
Forgiveness
Obedience
Generosity
Sincerity
Truthfulness
Orderliness
Virtue

I can’t wait to get started!
Deann Eaton - Kindergarten

I have been teaching Kindergarten for 22 years, 13 years have been at Buffalo Gap. Buffalo Gap is a great school and I'm fortunate to have my childen attend school here. It is rewarding to meet new Kindergarteners at the beginning of school with their anticipation, excitement and anxiety and then send them on to First Grade with confidence, awareness and independence. I, as their teacher, touched their lives , introuced them to learning and now they can fly on their own! Teaching is great!!

You are welcome to explore my website and email me with comments or suggestions.
Karen Garner - Kindergarten

Hello Everyone!
My name is Karen Garner, and I love teaching kindergarten at Buffalo Gap Elementary. I have had the privilege to teach for 14 years. I love meeting new kindergarten students in August--their faces full of anticipation, excitement and a little anxiety! When I have to say good-bye to them in May, it is great to see confidence and independence. I know that I have touched their lives, introduced them to the world of learning, and then let them fly on their own. What a wonderful feeling!
Missy Gibbs - 1st Grade

You'd be surprised how much you can continue to learn in second grade!

Donna Headstream - Gifted and Talented K-5

Hello, welcome to my G.T. classroom. My name is Donna Headstream, and I teach children kindergarten through fifth grade in the Gifted and Talented Classroom. This is my thirtieth year to teach for the Jim Ned CISD at the Buffalo Gap campus.
Most of the time I have taught Fourth Grade, but I have taught Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd & 3rd. Fourth Grade students were my favorite, but I love teaching the Gifted & Talented students.
This year we have spent the majority of the year researching dinosaurs. Just ask my students, they can tell you everything you ever wanted to know about the dinosaur of their choice, and probably more. Before the year is over we will be building a replica T.Rex. He/she will be approximately 9 feet tall and 16 feet long. Come by our campus later this spring and see it.
I received my BS degree in Elementary Education from Hardin Simmons University, and my Master degree in School Administration from Angelo State University.
I have one wonderful son, James Jr. and two cats - "Baby" & "General" who really keep me going. They truly run my house.
I love my family, friends, children and teaching, and hope to teach many more years. As long as I enjoy and "love" what I am doing, I plan to continue.
Susan Nall - Librarian

My name is Susan Nall. My husband is Stanley Nall. We have been married for twenty-one years and have two children. Our daughter, Samie, is in the 5th grade and our son, Keith, is in the 2nd grade. We have lived in the Jim Ned area for twenty years.
Penny Klostermann - Computers

This is my 24th year in education and 22 of them have been at Jim Ned. I started at Lawn and later moved to Buffalo Gap. I took a few years off while my son was in high school and then returned in 2004. Now I teach at both elementary campuses.
I love my job because the students are learning things about technology that will be a part of their everyday lives. They absorb computer skills like a sponge. They go home and teach their parents. That is amazing!
I enjoy playing tennis, exercising, reading and listening to books, and creating stuff on the computer.
Sheila Lloyd - Computer Aide

I have been in education for 17 years. Most of those years were in the Abilene Independent School District. I took 5 years off while my two boys were young. My family moved to Tuscola a few years ago, and we have loved becoming Jim Ned Indians!
I enjoy teaching computer because I get to teach every elemetary child in the Jim Ned District a skill that is very usefull in today's world. They love to come to the lab to learn, which makes my job easy! I enjoy shopping, reading magazines, and watching my boys play football, basketball, and tennis.
Carla Kilpatrick - Nurse

I am responsible for Immunizations, height, weight, vision and hearing of all students in the district. I may need help from time to time from the parents in checking for and eliminating head lice.
