American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) Local Chapter 1346, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that works to address the needs and interests of middle-aged and elderly people in the United States. This $500 scholarship is for high school students looking to be in either the medical or social field. The scholarship must be received by May 1st, so mail it before deadline. Deadline: May 1, 2013.

Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants are pleased to be able to continue with their scholarship program for the 5th year. To apply for this scholarship students will write an essay on the topic: "What have you done outside the classroom that demonstrates qualities sought after by the post secondary institution that you are hoping to attend? Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union offers five to ten scholarships of at least $1,000 each will be awarded for the 2013-2014 academic year. The scholarship selection committee has the latitude to slightly increase the number of recipients and/or the amount of the awards.  The distance learning activities prepare the scholars for their week at JSC and familiarize them with space exploration. Including, but not limited to:  Liftoff (Reading material, multimedia links and tutorials), Quiz (10 question quiz based on reading material), Mission (Assignment consisting of essay, math problem, and graphic), and Extended Mission (Optional links and additional information)Each activity is graded by a certified educator through our online system.
Each assignment is aligned to state standards. If students are selected and complete the on-site summer experience, school districts may grant a science elective credit towards graduation based on the Scientific Research and Design course developed by the Texas Education Agency.

McLamore, the BURGER KING Scholars program has awarded more than 17,000 scholarships—$17.6 million—to high school students, BK® employees and their children across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. This spring, thanks to the support of the BK® family and the McLamore Family Foundation, the Foundation awarded 1, scholarships, totaling more than $2.2 million, nearly doubling the number of scholarships granted in 2011. Jim Ned Association of Texas Professional educators has established a scholarship to be awarded to a Jim Ned High School Senior. The amount will be $200 or more as determined. Applicants must be a Jim Ned graduating senior and plan to attend a college or university to purse a degree. Deadline: May 3, 2013

Career and Technology Association of Texas believes that educating young people in career and technical education results in high student acheivement and aids in advancing students to postsecondary education and a globally competitve workforce. The NROTC scholarship season for students starting college in 2012 is underway. This is a four-year scholarship worth up to $180,000 covering full tuition, books, fees, uniforms and a monthly stipend of $250. Upon graduation, students enter the Navy as commissioned officers in occupations such as Engineering, Pilot, Naval Flight Officer and Surface Warfare Officer. There is no obilgaiton on the part of the student for applying for this scholarship. Deadline: January 31, 2013

The NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards are non-refundable scholarships created to recognize young people who have demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit/initiative valued $1,000-$10,000. Since 2002, the company has awarded two students in the state of Texas a $10,000 scholarship each and four $2,500 scholarships to students in local spring communities where they operate. This scholarship is intended for students pursuing degrees at a four-year college or university in the field of earth/environmental science. The Texas Jaycee foundation will award scholarships to persons wishing to enroll in an accredited Texas College, University, or Technical School. Applicant must be a permanent resident of the State of Texas, full-time student (or employed full-time while attending high school part-time) and is a senior and who has been accepted by an educational institution in Texas. Applicant does not need to be a member of the Jaycee's. Scholarship amount is $1000 paid directly to an accredited institution in Texas.Deadline: May 31, 2013

The Texas Retired Teachers Foundation is now in its fourth year of awarding scholarships to students pursuing degrees in education and grants to public school teachers for innovative classroom projects. To date, TRTF has awarded $22,500 in scholarships and $18,000 in classroom assistance grants. TRTF is offering 15 Classroom Assistance Grants in the amount of $500 to public school teachers in the state of Texas for the 2013-2014 school year. Classroom Assistance Grants are awarded to teachers who demonstrate their commitment to education by creating programs or learning platforms that enhance the lives of their students. Additionally, TRTF is offering 15 $500 scholarships to students who will be attending a Texas college in 2013-2014 and are majoring in education (they must also be relatives of members of the Texas Retired Teachers Association). This scholarship is for graduating high school seniors attending one of the following: any high school in Taylor County; Baird High School, Clyde High School, or Eula High School in Callahan County; or Robert Lee High School in Robert Lee, Texas. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must have been enrolled and played varsity golf at a qualifying school during junior and senior year. Planned participation in golf at the college level is not required; this award is not based on applicants' golf proficiency and is not considered to be an athletic award. Selection is based on financial need, scholastic achievement, and potential for success in a college environment. Please note that if a student is planning to seek funds through an athletic scholarship at a university sanctioned by the NCAA, the student may not be allowed by NCAA rules to accept this award.
