14th Annual Jim Ned Warpath Invitational

The 14th Annual Jim Ned Warpath Invitational will be Saturday, October 4, at the Jim Ned Sports Complex. Girls and Boys Varsity, Junior Varsity and Junior High teams will compete. For more information, contact Coach Jimmy Avery or Steve Bryant at (325) 554-7755.

Cassi, Lilly and Rita charge toward the finish line

Cassi, Lilly and Rita sprint toward the finish placing as runners 2, 3 and 4 for the team in the Region 1 2AA meet November 4 in Lubbock. Casi was 54th, Lilly was 56th and Rita was 57th out of 180 runners. The team finished in seventh place with 237 points. Tori was Jim Ned's top runner - finishing 20th with a time of 12:49.80. Melissa was fifth (83rd), Hannah was sixth (136th), and Shawna (138th) was Jim Ned's seventh runner. The team placed seventh behind Wall, Spearman and Slaton. 2006 State Champion Shallowater was fourth. Results are available on the download page. The top 3 teams and top 10 individuals advanced to the State Meet Nov. 10 in Round Rock.

Region 1 Class 2AA Cross Country Meet

The Tuscola-Jim Ned ISD Varsity Girls Cross Country team snacked on Mrs. Day's homemade cinnamon raisin rolls Friday morning before leaving for the Region 1 meet in Lubbock. Jim Ned advanced to the regional meet by placing second behind No. 1 state-ranked Wall, at the October 21 District 6AA meet at the Coleman Country Club. Ballinger finished third. Results of the District 6AA meet and the Region I meet are on the download page and on the Cross Country page.
District 6AA Varsity Girls' Runners-up Photo-op

Jim Ned's Varsity Girls team earned second place with 80 points behind No. 1 state-ranked Wall, at the October 21 District 6AA meet at the Coleman Country Club. Ballinger finished third. The second place finish advanced the girls' team to the Region 1 meet November 3 in Lubbock. The Seventh Grade team finished second behind Wall and the JV and Eighth Grade teams placed fourth. 2007 Cisco Cross Country Invitational Meet

Jim Ned's Lady Indians easily won the 2007 Cisco Cross country meet
October 10 at Cisco High School with 54 points, outdistancing Clyde with 84 and Breckenridge with 95.
Jim Ned earned first, fifth and sixth place with finishes by Tori,
Rita and Lily. Tori ran the 2-mile course in 13:38,
while Rita and Lily tied at 14:00 minutes flat, with Rita slipping by Lily at the finish line.
Cassi was 19th with a time of 14:48, Hannah was 23rd with 15:08; Shawna was 25th at 15:09.02; and Caitlyn was 39th at 15:40:00.
The JV squad finished strong as well.
Official times and places were not recorded by Cisco due to an error in record-keeping at the finish line.
The girls running and their estimated places were Sam, 1st;
Renee, 6th; Kaitlyn, 11th; Hannah 13th; Teagie, 16th; Shea, 19th; and Andi, 20th.

2007 ACU Cross Country Classic

The Seventh Grade team of Laci, Sarah, Ellyn, Lexi, Jordan and Katelin earned their third first-place team trophy this season at the ACU Cross Country Classic. Coach Branch is pictured with her runners and the team trophy. The girls won their fourth first-place trophy at the Baird meet, October 16, and came in second behind Wall at the District 6AA meet.

Jim Ned Varsity won fourth place out of 11 teams.
Jim Ned JV placed fourth.
Jim Ned Eighth Grade placed sixth out of 14 teams.
Jim Ned Seventh Grade placed first out of 13 teams.

Freshman Tori continued finishing atop the Jim Ned Lady Indians harriers’ squad with a sixth place finish and a time of 13:02.91 to help the varsity girls win fourth place. Rita turned in a time of 13:39.87 for 13th place, while Lily was 17th with 13:50.93. Other runners competing were Hannah, 40th, 14:56.72; Shawna, 48th, 15:10.83; Sam, 52nd, 15:15.46; and Renee, 57th, 15:23.8.
The JV team finished in fourth, seven points out of third place. The team was paced by Cori with a time of 15:58.75 for 13th place and Hannah, who finished 15th with a time of 16:17.06. Both girls medaled. Other runners were Kaitlyn, 20th, 16:57.31; Teagie, 24th, 17:06.29; Haley, 33rd, 18:39.75; and Goya, 40th, 20:27.98.
The Eighth graders finished sixth with a score of 178 points. Savannah ran the 1-mile course in a time of 6:23.52 for third place. Meagan just missed out on medaling with a 16th place finish and a time of 6:54.04; Other runners were Melissa, 49th, 7:18.27; Savannah, 67th, 7:31.78; Lindsey, 72nd, 7:35.78; Bridget, 81st, 7:44.82; Dyllan, 87th, 7:52.46; Kelsey, 91st, 7:56.53; Sabrina, 98th, 8:10.12; and Alex, 125th, 9:00.07.
The Seventh Grade team earned their third first-place finish in four tries with a score of 79 points. Their closest competition was Ballinger who racked up 104 points. Laci was in the lead the entire race but finished 11th with a time of 7:03.62 when she tripped running down the last hill before the finish. She got support from Jordan, who finished 13th with a time of 7:06.44; Ellyn, 14th, 7:07.34; Katelin, 20th, 7:14.85; Sarah, 28th, 7:29.44; and Lexi, 73rd, 8:14.34.

Tori sprints toward first place in the Jim Ned Warpath Cross Country Invitational Meet

Freshman Tori earned her first, first-place finish as a varsity runner during the 2007 13th Annual Jim Ned Warpath Cross Country Invitational at the Jim Ned Sports Complex held Sept. 29.
Tori finished first out of a field of 93 runners with a time of 13:02.68. The team was ninth with 175 points.
“I was so happy to see Tori win especially in front of her home crowd,” Head Coach Jimmy Avery said. “She has dedicated herself to cross country as a young runner and it’s really paying off.”
Jim Ned runners competing were: Caitlin, 36th, 14:49; Melissa, 42nd, 14:56.33; Erin, 57th, 15:26.67; Haley, 72nd, 16:13.53; Hannah, 79th, 16:21.48; Shea, 80th, 16:26.19; and Teagie, 86th, 16:59.53.
The JV Girls won first with 23 points to Merkel’s 32 points. Runners were: Shauna, 3rd, 15:30.04; Candace, 9th, 16:30.80; Haley, 10th, 16:18.67; Lindsey, 12th, 16:31.75; Lauren, 13th, 16:37.44; Shayla, 15th, 16:41.80; Taylor, 21st, 17:53.02 ; Page, 22nd, 18:27.68.
The eighth graders placed fifth out of 14 teams with 148 points in a field of 102 runners.
Runners were: Savannah, 2nd, 11:00.37; Meagan, 19th, 12:01.15; Melissa, 44th, 13:00.92; Hayley, 49th, 13:13.83; Bridget, 64th, 13:41.17; Savannah, 65th, 13:44.33; Dyllan, 73rd, 13:59.11; Lindsey, 74th, 14:00.28; Kelsey, 75th, 14:02.80; Sabrina, 78th, 14:15.02; Marcheta, 86th, 14:36.90; and Alex, 87th, 14:37.66.
The seventh graders placed second with 59 points to Brady’s 46 points in a field of 12 teams and 114 runners. Runners were: Laci, 2nd, 11:26.18; Sarah, 13th, 11:58.58; Jordan, 17th, 12:03.51; Katelin, 18th, 12:06.38; Ellyn, 21st, 12:20.81; Jessica, 26th, 12:39.62; Lexi, 36th, 12:53.69; Justice, 58th, 13:43.59; Samie, 59th, 13:43.59; Eris, 77th, 14:36.21; Kylee , 83rd, 14:42.84; Kristyn, 90th, 15:04.79; Hannah, 92nd, 15:08.99; Madison, 106th, 16:10.40; and Johanna, 113th, 17:26.36.

Meagan pulls ahead at the top of the hill at the Coleman Country Club

The Lady Indians opened their 2007 Cross Country season with fifth and second place wins in Eula and Winters and a first place finish in Coleman Sept. 17 as they prepare to host the Sept. 29 13th Annual Jim Ned Warpath Cross Country Invitational.

“The race has grown, and I look for another strong race in all divisions,” head coach Jimmy Avery said of the Jim Ned meet. “This is a good opportunity for everyone to come see our runners compete.”

The Jim Ned Invitational begins at 9 a.m. at the Jim Ned track and winds through the Jim Ned Sports Complex.

Finishing for the Lady Indians in the Sept. 8 meet in Eula were: Kelsey, 12:59; Tori, 13:03; Caitlin, 14:19; Melissa, 14:29; Hannah, 15:01; Haley, 15:07; Cassi, 15:08, Haley, 15:50, Andi, 15:50; Alicia, 16:05; and Teagie, 16:22.

Jim Ned placed second in the Sept. 15 meet in Winters with 75 points to Ballinger’s 33 points. The 2-mile course provided slick surfaces for the harriers – at one point, Rita started to fall down the caliche cart path at the Winters’ golf course but was caught by Tori as the two ran side-by-side.

Lady Indians finishing were: Tori, 3rd, 13:56; Rita, 4th, 13:58; Lily, 13th, 14:51; Cassi, 24th, 15:30; Hannah, 32nd, 16:08; Renee, 35th, 16:22; Sam, 36th, 16:25.5; Erin, 44th, 16:54; Hannah, 56th, 17:28; Teagie, 59th, 17:43; Alicia, 65th, 18:25; Jessica, 66th, 18:43; and Tayler, 72nd, 19:09.

Jim Ned squeaked by Coleman who had 65 points to the Lady Indians’ 64 points to win first place in the Coleman meet. The Lady Indians were paced by Tori, 2nd, 15:00; Rita, 3rd, 15:07; Lilly, 7th, 15:27.5; Caitlin, 17th, 16:29; Hannah, 35th, 17:35; Sam, 37th, 17:45.6; and Kaitlyn, 46th, 18:48.5.

JV runners placed first with a team score of 36. Runners were Melissa, 2nd, 17:07.9; Erin, 4th, 17:46.2; Sarah, 8th, 18:00; Cassi, 10th, 18:11.7; Haley, 12th, 18:19.3; Shelby, 13th, 18:23.1; Teagie, 18th, 18:20.8; Cheyenne, 27th, 19:03.4; Lauren, 32nd, 19:40; Lindsey, 36th, 19:52; Haley, 41st, 20:02.2; Page, 57th, 20:59.7; Tayler, 59th, 21:22.6; Andi, 62nd, 21:46.4; Tosha, 63rd, 22:06.4; and Alecia, 71st. 23:32.8.

Eighth grader Savannah beat the Winters course record set last year by then-eighth grader Tori by running a 13:55 for first place outdistancing the second runner by nearly a minute. Also winning a medal was Hayley with a 10th place finish and a time of 16:26. Other runners in the eighth grade division were: Marcheta, 34th, 19:14; Alex, 35th, 19:34.3; and Rosanna, 50th, 20:47.

The eighth grade team entered two teams earning fourth and seventh place finishes in Coleman. Savannah breezed to a 14:43.6 – the second fastest time of the day amongst all girls' runners in every division. Other runners were: Meagan, 17th, 17:10.5; Savannah, 24th, 17:58.2; Melissa , 35th, 18:08; Bridget, 33rd, 19:07; Kelsey, 34th, 19:09.3; Marcheta, 52nd, 21:26.1; Alex, 59th, 21:48; Lindsey, 57th, 22:14; Sabrina, 58th, 22:20; Megan, 61st, 22:41; Abby, 63rd, 23:00; and Alex, 64th, 23:05.

The seventh graders brought home a first place win at Winters with a near perfect score of 17 points, beating second place Clyde, who had 50 and Ballinger who scored 55.

Laci and her seventh grade teammates were the first runners on the course, and Harris was the first runner to break Tori’s record, which was bested by Savannah in the following race. Laci's time was 14:41, clipping second place finisher Sabrina from Winters, who had a time of 14:46. Also running were: Sarah, 3rd, 15:18; Katelin, 5th, 15:54; Ellyn, 6th, 16:05; Justice, 9th, 16:36; Jessica, 19th, 18:13; Reese, 26th, 19:24; Hannah, 28th, 19:31; and Katelynn, 40th, 21:29.

The seventh graders also captured first in the Coleman meet with a score of 28. Laci won first again with a time of 15:38.9; Sarah, 5th, 16:26.1; Jordan, 6th, 16:42.5; Katelin, 7th, 16:49.5; Ellyn, 9th, 17:15.9; Mackenzie, 23rd, 18:19.1; Lexi, 26th, 19:44.0; Samie, 27th, 20:10; Kaitlyn, 28th, 20:26; Kylee, 29th, 20:36.6; Hunter, 30th, 20:38; Jessica, 35th, 20:56; Jacqueline, 37th, 21:14.2; Alexis, 39th, 21:54; Hannah, 45th, 23:01.2; Reese, 52nd, 24:23:52.2; Misty, 56th, 25:28.1; and Ashton, 56th, 25:45.3.
