Troubleshooting: |
If the board and PC lose communication with each other through the USB connection, do this: turn the board off, wait 20 seconds, turn the board back on and listen for 4 beeps plus a different 5th tone. If this worked, you will see a msg that the board is connected. If this does not fix the problem, check all USB connections and possibly reboot the PC. If you have lost the purple I icon in your taskbar, the device manager has closed and you will need to re-open it by going to Start / Program / Interwrite / Device Manager. Also, if you do have the task bar icon, you can right click and go up to reset to restore communication. However, you usually have to calibrate after doing this. If the "calibrate" tool on the right hand side of your board doesn't seem to work or freezes up, use the calibrate tool located inside of Device Manager / choose board icon / choose the up/down/right/left arrow icon across the top of the window to calibrate. (This and other good tips can be found on the discussion boards on the Interwrite / eLearning website.)
How can I make the PC and the wireless pad communicate? Sometimes Windows updates upset the Bluetooth configuration. If your pad refuses to connect, you may need new Bluetooth drivers. These are on the network in a folder called Interwrite Bluetooth Driver--but you may need some help from your tech support staff if you don't know how to update drivers from your Windows Device Manager.
How can I freeze the picture on the whiteboard for the students and go to other sites or check email on my PC?
Use the freeze button on your projector remote--press it a 2nd time to unfreeze.
How can I use the whiteboard to "mark up" a worksheet that is displayed with my Elmo document camera?
Run the InterWrite Workspace software and put it in mouse mode. Then run the Elmo software in full screen mode. As soon as you select one of the annotation tools on the Workspace toolbar, it will take a screen capture of the Elmo image for you to mark up--then you can return to mouse mode for the next page. Repeat. This will place each successive page in order. When you are done, go to the Workspace menu and choose: File- Export. You can then save the pages as a PDF or Jpeg.
How to Make a Link in Workspace Software
Choose the item that you want to link with the selection tool (the arrow on the toolbar). You can make anything that can be "selected" a link.
So, if you want to type an actual web address first using the text tool and then select that text with the selection arrow, then you can make the text a link. Once you choose something with the selection tool (arrow), you will see a little chain link in the task bar at the bottom of the Workspace window.
Click on that chain link to get the option to make a link and just type the full internet address into the box. This will add a "link" icon to your selected item.
